چکیده
Abstract Satellite-measured tidal magnetic signals are of growing importance. These fields mainly used to infer Earth’s mantle conductivity, but also derive changes in the oceanic heat content. We present a new Kalman filter-based method from satellite magnetometers: KALMAG. The method’s advantage is that it allows study precisely estimated posterior error covariance matrix. results simultaneous estimation 8 major tides 17 years Swarm and CHAMP data. For first time, robustly derived distributions reported along with fields. compared other estimates either based on numerical forward models or inversions same all comparisons, maximal differences corresponding globally averaged RMSE reported. found inter-product comparable KALMAG-based errors only global mean sense. Here, approaches give values order, e.g., 0.09 nT-0.14 nT for M2. Locally, KALMAG up one order smaller than differences, 0.12 vs. 0.96 Graphical

Combining CHAMP and Swarm Satellite Data to Invert the Lithospheric Magnetic Field in the Tibetan Plateau
CHAMP and Swarm satellite magnetic data are combined to establish the lithospheric magnetic field over the Tibetan Plateau at satellite altitude by using zonal revised spherical cap harmonic analysis (R-SCHA). These data are integrated with geological structures data to analyze the relationship between magnetic anomaly signals and large-scale geological tectonic over the Tibetan Plateau and to ...
متن کاملGeological implications of continental magnetic anomalies derived from new CHAMP satellite data
A GIS based modelling technique has been developed to model the various geological units of the continents starting from the UNESCO geological map of the world. Depending upon the known rock types of the region, they are assigned a standard susceptibility value and using the Crust2.1 seismic crustal structure, a vertically integrated susceptibility (VIS) model is computed at each point of the r...

system, equatorial vertical ion drifts, and the equatorial ionization anomaly (EIA). Due to its importance, there is much interest in accurately measuring the EEF. However, there is a severe lack of high quality data with the notable exception being the JULIA coherent scatter radar in Peru. In this work, we use CHAMP satellite-derived latitudinal current profiles of the day-time EEJ in order to...
متن کاملStudies of Geomagnetic Pulsations Using Magnetometer Data from the CHAMP Low-Earth-Orbit Satellite and Ground-Based Stations: a Review
We review research on geomagnetic pulsations carried out using magnetic field measurements from the CHAMP lowEarth-orbit (LEO) satellite and ground-based stations in South Africa and Hungary. The high quality magnetic field measurements from CHAMP made it possible to extract and clearly resolve Pi2 and Pc3 pulsations in LEO satellite data. Our analyses for nighttime Pi2 pulsations are indicativ...
متن کاملSpatio-temporal characterization of the equatorial electrojet from CHAMP, Ørsted, and SAC-C satellite magnetic measurements
[1] The equatorial electrojet (EEJ) is an eastward electric current on the day-side, flowing in a narrow band along the dip equator in the ionospheric E region. Recent magnetic observations from the CHAMP, Ørsted, and SAC-C satellites, comprising more than 95,000 dip equator crossings from 1999 to 2006, have provided an unprecedented longitudinal coverage of the EEJ magnetic signature. We have ...
