Tidal Constraints on the Martian Interior

چکیده
We compare several recent Martian interior models and evaluate how these are impacted by the tidal constraints provided Love number k2 secular acceleration in longitude s of its main moon, Phobos. The expression latter is developed up to harmonic degree 5 match accuracy current observations. a structure measurements parameters derive estimations possible core radius, temperature profile, attenuation interior. Our estimation radius 1,820 ± 80 km, consistent with seismic measurements. profiles at period Phobos similar between considered models, giving range for degree-2 bulk Q2 = 93.0 8.40 but diverge frequencies. At frequencies, model shear Qμ ranges 100 4,000 lower mantle, so that measurement could be used as an effective means distinguishing considered. Experimental Constraints on the Thermal Structure of the Martian Interior and Martian Magmatism
Introduction: Past space missions to Mars have provided important constraints on the planet's internal density distribution [1,2]. However, the thermal structure of the Martian interior remains highly uncertain. Although theoretical calculations have provided some basic knowledge of the thermal evolution of Mars [e.g., 3-9], the results from these computer simulations are strongly dependent on ...

متن کاملRheological Constraints on Martian Landslides
We use a dynamic finite-difference model to simulate martian landslides in the Valles Marineris canyon system and Olympus Mons aureole using three different modal rheologies: frictional, Bingham, and power law. The frictional and Bingham modes are applied individually. Fluidized rheology is treated as a combination of frictional and power-law modes; general fluidization can include pore pressur...
متن کاملInterior channels in Martian valleys: Constraints on fluvial erosion by measurements of the Mars Express High Resolution Stereo Camera
[1] In High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) images of the Mars Express Mission a 130 km long interior channel is identified within a 400 km long valley network system located in the Lybia Montes. Ages of the valley floor and the surroundings as derived from crater counts define a period of 350Myrs during which the valley might have been formed. Based on HRSC stereo measurements the discharge of...
