Both the Tiberian and Samaritan biblical traditions are composite in nature. In tradition this manifests most clearly phenomenon of ketiv-qere. Against backdrop normally harmonious relationship between written (i.e., consonantal, orthographic) pronunciation vocalisation, recitation) components tradition, ketiv-qere instances a clear indication divergence what is read—divergence which, it should be emphasised, exceeds acknowledged cases A similar obtains its oral recitation, with latter regularly deviating from was evidently intended by former. reading commonly characterised as later than their respective traditions.
