Fiber-laser-based frequency comb with a tunable repetition rate.
A phase-locked, self-referenced frequency comb generated by a mode-locked fiber soliton laser with a tunable repetition rate is presented. The spacing of the frequency comb is set by the laser's repetition rate, which can be scanned from 49.3 MHz to 50.1 MHz while one tooth of the comb is held phase-locked to a stable RF source. This variable repetitionrate frequency comb should be useful for w...
متن کاملDesign and Simulation of a Modified 32-bit ROM-based Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer on FPGA
This paper presents a modified 32-bit ROM-based Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer (DDFS). Maximum output frequency of the DDFS is limited by the structure of the accumulator used in the DDFS architecture. The hierarchical pipeline accumulator (HPA) presented in this paper has less propagation delay time rather than the conventional structures. Therefore, it results in both higher maximum ope...
متن کاملOptical frequency measurement across a 104-THz gap with a femtosecond laser frequency comb.
The frequency-domain mode comb of a Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser centered at 350 THz is broadened to 150 THz (full width at -30 dBc) by self-phase modulation in a single-mode optical fiber. By phase locking continuous-wave lasers to elements of the comb near 1064 and 778 nm, we measure the 104-THz frequency gap between these two lasers with a relative uncertainty of 2.7 x 10(-11) in 1 s.
متن کاملDigital Fractional Frequency Synthesizer Based on Counters
This paper describes the architecture of a new pure digital frequency synthesizer based on pulse generators, counters and a register. The technique described here is much simpler than other methods. The synthesizer presented is suitable for the design of VLSI architectures or for programmable large-scale integration circuits.
متن کاملIntegrated self-referenced frequency-comb laser based on a combination of fiber and waveguide technology.
An optically integrated self-referenced frequency comb laser is demonstrated. The system consists of a passively-modelocked Er-fiber laser, a butt-coupled periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide phase-sensor and an electronic feedback loop for carrier-envelope-offset (CEO) phase stabilization. The fceo-beat-signal has a linewidth of 62 kHz and is detected with a S/N-ratio of 40 dB, ...
