THz irradiation inhibits cell division by affecting actin dynamics

چکیده
Biological phenomena induced by terahertz (THz) irradiation are described in recent reports, but underlying mechanisms, structural and dynamical change of specific molecules still unclear. In this paper, we performed time-lapse morphological analysis human cells found that THz halts cell division at cytokinesis. At the end cytokinesis, contractile ring, which consists filamentous actin (F-actin), needs to disappear; however, it remained for 1 hour under irradiation. Induction functional structures F-actin was also observed interphase cells. Similar were chemical treatment (jasplakinolide), indicating assists polymerization. We previously reported enhances polymerization purified vitro; our current work shows increases cytoplasmic vivo. Thus, identified one key biomechanisms affected waves.

Actin cytoskeleton dynamics and the cell division cycle.
The network of actin filaments is one of the crucial cytoskeletal structures contributing to the morphological framework of a cell and which participates in the dynamic regulation of cellular functions. In adherent cell types, cells adhere to the substratum during interphase and spread to assume their characteristic shape supported by the actin cytoskeleton. This actin cytoskeleton is reorganiz...
متن کاملCucurbitacin I Inhibits Cell Motility by Indirectly Interfering with Actin Dynamics
BACKGROUND Cucurbitacins are plant natural products that inhibit activation of the Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) pathway by an unknown mechanism. They are also known to cause changes in the organization of the actin cytoskeleton. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS We show that cucurbitacin I potently inhibits the migration of Madin-Darby canine k...
متن کاملModel of transient cooperative phenomena triggered by THz-pulse irradiation
We studied the cooperative phenomena induced by injection of coherent phonons by THz optical pulses. Based on the analogy to the photoinduced phase transitions observed in various materials, we consider that cooperative interactions between electrons and coherent phonons will lead to the multiplication of excited electrons and/or growth of a transient phase, which is understood by bifurcation o...
متن کاملADF/cofilin-driven actin dynamics in early events of Leishmania cell division.
ADF/cofilin is an actin-dynamics-regulating protein that is required for several actin-based cellular processes such as cell motility and cytokinesis. A homologue of this protein has recently been identified in the protozoan parasite Leishmania, which has been shown to be essentially required in flagellum assembly and cell motility. However, the role of this protein in cytokinesis remains large...
