چکیده
ABSTRACT The recorded corpus of Agnus Dei pennies made or found in England has been augmented by three further specimens. first two (below, [1] and [2]) are imitations the type, probably minted Scandinavia but uncovered England. third [3]) is a specimen original English issue, representing previously unrecorded mint-place (Dorchester, Dorset). new coins presented turn, showing how each its own way refines important aspects wider understanding coinage.

Kids swallowing pennies.
Kids Swallowing Pennies Doctors at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, have learned that a penny saved isn't always a good thing, particularly if that penny was minted after 1982. A team of doctors found that children who swallow post-1982 pennies may develop stomach ulcers if the coins become lodged in their digestive tracts. More than 21,000 children visited the emergenc...
متن کاملQuantum Matching Pennies Game
A quantum version of the Matching Pennies (MP) game is proposed that is set in an Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bohm (EPR-Bohm) setting. We construct the quantum game without using the state vectors and while considering only the quantum mechanical joint probabilities relevant to the EPR-Bohm setting. We embed the classical game within the quantum game such that the classical MP game results when the...
متن کاملTipping Pennies ? Privately . Practical Anonymous
We design and analyze the first practical anonymous payment mechanisms for network services. We start by reporting on our experience with the implementation of a routing micropayment solution for Tor. We then propose micropayment protocols of increasingly complex requirements for networked services, such as p2p or cloud-hosted services. The solutions are efficient, with bandwidth and latency ov...
متن کاملTesting randomness by Matching Pennies
In the game of Matching Pennies, Alice and Bob each hold a penny, and at every tick of the clock they simultaneously display the head or the tail sides of their coins. If they both display the same side, then Alice wins Bob’s penny; if they display different sides, then Bob wins Alice’s penny. To avoid giving the opponent a chance to win, both players seem to have nothing else to do but to rand...
متن کامل“Pennies for Charity”: Why Charities Outsource Fundraising
Charities frequently rely on high-priced professional solicitors but donors seem unaware. To understand this, we propose an agency-based theory of fundraising. We show that trading off its incentive cost, the charity optimally hires a sufficiently "efficient" solicitor and offers him a high percentage of the donations collected, implying a high price of giving. Thus, if, as required by law, don...
