Two of the main challenges recent electric vehicles (EVs) are charging time and high initial cost. To solve problem associated with long time, car manufacturers moving from 400 V battery EV (BEV) to 800 BEV, which enables utilization multi-level converters in applications. This paper presents a power conversion system consisting Vienna rectifier two/three level hybrid inverter as machine-side drive permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The improves quality grid-side current provides regulated DC-link voltage. proposed inverter, known 10-switch offers output lower number active switches, making it compact cost-effective. field-oriented control (FOC), along SPWM modulation, is implemented system. A reliable cost-effective PMSM demands sensorless control; therefore, sliding mode observer (SMO) used estimate rotor position velocity. accuracy was proved through simulation results MATLAB/Simulink.
