‘This magical place’: Understanding BiCon 2008 as a heterotopic place-event

In this article, I outline findings from a photo-elicitation study of bisexual community event in the United Kingdom. Participants describe as taking place ‘a separate world’, ‘portable bubble’ reached by symbolic journey away everyday, within which they can recognise themselves present-tense subjects. These framings support theorisation BiCon heterotopic place-event where paradox subjectivity be temporarily resolved. Applying concept heterotopia to 2008 allows us account for relationship between ‘magical space’ and spaces non-BiCon world. Further, theorising ( Pink, 2012 ), we begin ways space is produced intersubjectively, through movements practices its constituents.
