Thirty-Year Prediction of 137Cs Supply from Rivers to Coastal Waters off Fukushima Considering Human Activities

چکیده

The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident caused an accumulation of 137Cs in coastal sediment. supply from rivers to the ocean can affect long-term fate Since river basins include large decontaminated and evacuation order areas, considering decontamination work resumption agriculture is important for predicting supply. We conducted a 30-year prediction using distributed radiocesium model, effects human activities. In with activities reduced total outflow agricultural lands, urban forest areas by 5.0% 6.0%, respectively. These results indicated that slightly impacted sediment was estimated correspond 11–36% early phase accident. Therefore, behavior

Fukushima 137Cs at the base of planktonic food webs off Japan

The potential bioaccumulation of Cs in marine food webs off Japan became a concern following the release of radioactive contaminants from the damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant into the coastal ocean. Previous studies suggest that Cs activities increase with trophic level in pelagic food webs, however, the bioaccumulation of Cs from seawater to primary producers, to zooplankton has not been ...

Nutrient Loads Flowing into Coastal Waters from the Main Rivers of China (2006–2012)

Based on monthly monitoring data of unfiltered water, the nutrient discharges of the eight main rivers flowing into the coastal waters of China were calculated from 2006 to 2012. In 2012, the total load of NH3-N (calculated in nitrogen), total nitrogen (TN, calculated in nitrogen) and total phosphorus (TP, calculated in phosphorus) was 5.1 × 10(5), 3.1 × 10(6) and 2.8 × 10(5) tons, respectively...

Renewed soil erosion and remobilisation of radioactive sediment in Fukushima coastal rivers after the 2013 typhoons

Summer typhoons and spring snowmelt led to the riverine spread of continental Fukushima fallout to the coastal plains of Northeastern Japan and the Pacific Ocean. Four fieldwork campaigns based on measurement of radioactive dose rates in fine riverine sediment that has recently deposited on channel bed-sand were conducted between November 2011 and May 2013 to document the spread of fallout by r...

Evolution of radioactive dose rates in fresh sediment deposits along coastal rivers draining Fukushima contamination plume

Measurement of radioactive dose rates in fine sediment that has recently deposited on channel bed-sand provides a solution to address the lack of continuous river monitoring in Fukushima Prefecture after Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant (FDNPP) accident. We show that coastal rivers of Eastern Fukushima Prefecture were rapidly supplied with sediment contaminated by radionuclides originatin...

Pathogenic human viruses in coastal waters.

This review addresses both historical and recent investigations into viral contamination of marine waters. With the relatively recent emergence of molecular biology-based assays, a number of investigations have shown that pathogenic viruses are prevalent in marine waters being impacted by sewage. Research has shown that this group of fecal-oral viral pathogens (enteroviruses, hepatitis A viruse...
