Thin Functional Zeolite Layer Supported on Infrared Resonant Nano‐Antennas for the Detection of Benzene Traces

Infrared absorption spectroscopy is a powerful analytical tool that enables the identification of molecular species. The sensitivity this technique, strongly limited by small cross-section vibration, can be greatly improved resonant interaction with nano-antennas via surface-enhanced infrared (SEIRA) mechanism. However, most examples SEIRA concern solid-state layers adsorbed on nano-antennas, while detection gas traces still remains elusive due to spatial extent near-field used amplify vibrations resonantly. Here, hybrid system composed plasmonic nano-antenna array coupled nanosized zeolite coating for volatile organic compounds in near field resonators demonstrated. concerted action and enabled authors detect record benzene (25 ppb) within 10 min. This approach may ultimately allow fabrication compact rapid pharmaceutical biocompounds high selectivity.
