Thermogravimetric Analysis of Marine Macroalgae Waste Biomass as Bio-Renewable Fuel

Macroalgae are considered as the 3rd generation of biofuels and a future feedstock for biorefinery. This research aims to provide simple dependable analytical techniques measuring thermal characteristics dried seaweed. The main objective was investigate four seaweed species utilizing thermogravimetric analyzer. seaweeds Gracilaria fisheri, Caulerpa lentillifera, Ceramium rubrum, Eucheuma cottonii were collected from Pahang state Peninsular Malaysia. calorific value samples revealed by using calorimeter. rubrum showed highest value, while fisheri had most negligible among selected samples. analysis (TGA) data that significant weight loss this biomass occurred between 160 300° species. has shown decomposition with minor residue at 30.26%, whereas lentillifera slow rate in mentioned range. SEM been used perform morphology samples, which shows differences concentration epiphytic diatoms different structural shapes. Based on results, macroalgae is promising sustainable biofuel application.
