Thermally Sprayed Coating-Based Heating Systems for Boundary Layer Transition Detection — An Experimental Approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Boundary layers on surfaces will change from laminar to turbulent flow after a critical length. Due the differing heat transfer coefficients of and flow, point transition can be detected by heating surface measuring temperature thermographic imaging. Locating is crucial for aerodynamic optimization components. In this study, fiber reinforced polymer composites (FRPCs) were chosen as test substrate. Experiments conducted using flame spray process NiCrAlY coatings. Multilayered coatings consisting an aluminum bond coat, layer alumina electrical insulation, titania fabricated atmospheric plasma spraying. Free-flight tests with functionalized winglet in order assess ability thermally-sprayed elements detect location regime. The results showed that uniformly, sufficient radiation losses It was also shown at readily observable thermography.

Experimental Study of Coating in a Bottom Sprayed Fluidized Bed

Several investigations have been devoted towards understanding the coating process in fluidized beds. Most of these studies focused on spraying liquid droplets over the bed. However, due to the complexity of these systems, more investigations are still required to quantify the effect of operating conditions on the coating criteria. The present work aims at fundamentally understanding and pr...

High-temperature degradation of plasma sprayed thermal barrier coating systems

Thermal barrier coating systems (TBCs) are used in gas turbines to prevent high-temperature degradation of metallic materials in the combustor and turbine. One of the main concerns regarding TBCs is poor reliability, and accurate life prediction models are necessary in order to fully utilise the beneficial effects of TBCs. This research project aims at developing deeper understanding of the deg...

Surface Wear Characterization Of Thermally Sprayed Coating Of Al2O3-13TiO2 on M.S Substrate

Wear of the surface is the major problem of all materials. This wear can be of many types and there can be several methods of reducing wear. Coating on the surface of material is one of them. On M.S substrate, thermal spray coating is done using Detonation spray gun and coating powders used is a mixture of oxides (Al2O3-13TiO2). The thermal-sprayed coatings are characterized by SEM, EDS analyse...

Passive Control of Hypersonic Boundary-Layer Transition using Regular Porous Coating

Passive control of hypersonic boundary-layer transition using porous coatings has been studied by theoretical analyses, experiments, and numerical simulations. It was found that porous coating stabilizes Mack’s second mode and destabilizes Mack’s first mode. However, there are only few studies on the stabilization efficiency of porous coating. And no work has been reported about the thermochemi...
