Thermally-induced local structural transformations in Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-KNbO3 ceramics

چکیده

The local symmetry of (1-x)Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-xKNbO3 (NBT-xKN, x = 0.01−0.07) ceramics was thoroughly examined using high-energy synchrotron x-ray scattering and analysed the pair distribution function (PDF) method. At room temperature, structure NBT-xKN (x best refined monoclinic C1c1 structures within local-range (r<22 Å) rhombohedral R3c medium-range (22 Å 420 °C (above maximum dielectric peak, Tm), as confirmed by in-situ temperature-dependent PDF analysis.

Thermally induced structural transformations on polymorphous silicon

Polymorphous Si is a nanostructured form of hydrogenated amorphous Si that contains a small fraction of Si nanocrystals or clusters. Its thermally induced transformations such as relaxation, dehydrogenation, and crystallization have been studied by calorimetry and evolved gas analysis as a complementary technique. The observed behavior has been compared to that of conventional hydrogenated amor...

Thermally induced structural changes in immunoglobulin E.

The ability of immunoglobulin E (IgE) to bind to the cell membrane of basophiles and mast cells is progressively lost when the molecule is heated at 56”. In the present study, we have investigated the structural changes induced by heating under conditions known to destroy this biological function, although direct measurements of cytotropic activity were not made. After 30 min at 56” circular di...

Thermally Induced Structural Changes in Coal Combustion

It has been observed that certain char particles shrink when oxidized under kinetically limited conditions, instead of reacting at constant diameter, as expected. This study was perfonned to determine whether or not char from PSOC 1451 coal, prepared at different temperatures would also shrink during low temperature gasification. Coal chars, formed at l 200K and 1600K, were levitated in the ele...

Stability of thermally-induced martensitic transformations in bi-atomic crystals

Some of the most interesting, and technologically important solid–solid transformations are the 1rst order di2usionless transformations that occur in certain equiatomic, ordered, bi-atomic crystals. These displacive transformations include thermally-induced, reversible, proper martensitic transformations as seen in shape memory alloys such as NiTi (where group–subgroup relationships exist betwe...

Blue-light-induced infrared absorption in KNbO3

Owing to its high nonlinearity and low passive losses, KNbO3 has great potential as a medium for efficient frequency doubling and parametric oscillation." 2 For example, KNbO3 has been used successfully for the production of cw blue light by frequency doubling of a dye laser,3 doubling of a semiconductor diode laser,4 and nonlinear mixing of diode and Nd:YAG lasers.5 In recent work we observed ...
