چکیده
Superconducting metallic transition-metal nitrides, especially from the family of NbNx, are promising in various applications. Due to fact that lattice constants and crystal structures similar those GaN, GaN/NbN heterostructures have been grown combine benefits superconductors semiconductors, where thermal transport property is great significance. In this Letter, hexagonal NbN studied using a first-principles approach with consideration both electron phonon scatterings. It interesting find unlike most metals, phonons play bigger role compared electrons, due relatively small density states near Fermi level. At room temperature, our calculated conductivity close experimental data. Our findings can provide deeper understanding how heat transported nitrides may help design semiconductor/superconductor heterostructures.

Magnetoresistance Oscillations in Granular Superconducting Niobium Nitride Nanowires
We report on magnetoresistance oscillations in superconducting NbNx nanowires synthesized through ammonia gas annealing of NbSe3 precursor nanostructures. Though the transverse dimensions of the nanowires are much larger than the superconducting coherence length, the voltage-current characteristics of these nanowires at low temperatures are reminiscent of onedimensional superconductors where qu...

“role of Metallurgy in the Thermal Conductivity of Superconducting Niobium”
Superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavities for particle accelerators are fabricated using high purity niobium to allow for continuous high power operation. A hot-spot generated at a surface defect during accelerator operation can quench superconductivity and limit its performance. Increased heat conduction to the liquid helium bath dissipates hot spots, maintaining performance. Properly tre...
متن کاملAnisotropic Thermal Conductivity of Polycrystalline Niobium for Superconducting Cavities
This study investigates the thermal conductivity Κ of polycrystalline niobium. We recall that superconducting cavities for particle accelerators are made of niobium. And, the thermal conductivity Κ is one of the factors which play an important role in the cooling of these cavities by the surrounding superfluid helium bath. Our experiments revealed a rather unexpected discrepancy in the thermal ...
