چکیده

Rock failure generally leads to serious consequences, and it is significant obtain the precursor information prior using associated techniques. Thus, essential acquire probe relevant information. In this study, true triaxial tests are performed on red sandstone specimens under varying intermediate principal stress conditions. The thermal infrared image evolution temperature-induced change characteristics of rock also analyzed imaging technology. addition, with assistance a high-speed photography technique, these during compression unloading processes systematically investigated determine how impacts image, temperature, fracture propagation. Finally, mechanism summarized, non-contact indicator proposed, which can give advance notice collapse before abnormal temperature change. results show that there exist precursors, rapid development macroscopic cracks failure. Abnormal images changes. As increases, abnormalities will accordingly. Both changes anomalous patches be utilized as collapse, specific precursors preliminarily determined in time space. Our function frame reference for analysis prevention due sudden instability.

Calculation of cable thermal rating considering non-isothermal earth surface

The study presents an algorithm to compute the heat transfer coefficient for thermal cable rating when modelling the non-isothermal earth surface with the additional wall method. The position of the fictitious images is computed analytically by recognising that the complex geometrical arrangement can be converted into a much simpler one using the Fourier transform. This allows for the estimatio...

Couple stresses and the fracture of rock.

An assessment is made here of the role played by the micropolar continuum theory on the cracked Brazilian disc test used for determining rock fracture toughness. By analytically solving the corresponding mixed boundary-value problems and employing singular-perturbation arguments, we provide closed-form expressions for the energy release rate and the corresponding stress-intensity factors for bo...

Accurate Simulation of Mechanical Stresses in Silicon During Thermal Oxidation

The aim of this paper is to present viscoelastic models to accurately simulate mechanical stresses which result from volume expansion during thermal oxidation or temperature ramps in silicon technology. Comparisons are made with wafer curvature measurements and it is shown that mechanical stresses can explain the "anomalously" fast initial regime during dry oxidation, without involving any addi...

Solid oxide fuel cell interconnect design optimization considering the thermal stresses

The mechanical failure of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) components may cause cracks with consequences such as gas leakage, structure instability and reduction of cell lifetime. A comprehensive 3D model of the thermal stresses of an anode-supported planar SOFC is presented in this work. The main objective of this paper is to get an interconnect optimized design by evaluating the thermal stresses ...
