Thermal-Hydraulic-Mechanical (THM) Modelling of Short-Term Gas Storage in a Depleted Gas Reservoir—A Case Study from South Germany

چکیده
This study addresses the use of former gas storage facilities as short-term for renewable energy through power-to-gas (PtG) technology in Germany. Three test cases with coupled thermal-hydromechanical (THM) modelling were conducted to evaluate injection and production schedules. The operating rates controlled by upper lower limits wellbore pressure. maximum difference pore pressure effective stress was 0.6 MPa all cases. Fault reactivation analysis performed on THM models estimate fault stability. critical safe reservoir operation determined be 1.25 times original pressure, corresponding a WBHP value 20.25 MPa. limit rate estimated between 100,000 150,000 m3/day. thermal stresses found negligible capacity PtG reported up 1,322,400 kWh/d electricity, which can contribute Germany becoming greenhouse neutral country 2050. workflows results are applicable porous medium, including methane, CO2, hydrogen.

Investigation of Underground Gas Storage in a Partially Depleted Naturally Fractured Gas Reservoir
In this work, studies of underground gas storage (UGS) were performed on a partially depleted, naturally fractured gas reservoir through compositional simulation. Reservoir dynamic model was calibrated by history matching of about 20 years of researvoir production. Effects of fracture parameters, i.e. fracture shape factor, fracture permeability and porosity were studied. Results show...

The purpose of this research was to study the recognition, application and quantification of the risks associated in managing projects. In this research, the management of risks in an oil and gas project is studied and implemented within a case company in Oman. In this study, at first, the qualitative data related to risks in the project were identified through field visits and extensive interv...
متن کاملShort term thermal energy storage
2014 The present paper reviews the problem of short term thermal energy storage for low temperature solar heating applications. The techniques of sensible and latent heat storage are discussed, with particular emphasis on the latter. Requirements for hot water storage subsystems are provided and the importance of stratification in hot water storage tanks is described. Concerning latent heat sto...
