Thermal Energy Storage with PCMs in Shell-and-Tube Units: A Review

The paper presents a survey of the experimental and numerical studies shell-and-tube systems in which phase change material (PCM) is used. Due to multitude design solutions for systems, emphasis placed on double-tube (DT), triplex-tube (TT), multi-tube (MT) units. Additionally, only single-pass are considered. Particular attention paid method heat transfer intensification. analysis research results begins with classification each three mentioned systems. divided according angle inclination, enhancement (HTE), flow direction fluid (HTF), arrangement tubes bundle. Moreover, simplified schemes particular cases proposed. Then, works i.e., DT, TT, MT, discussed chronologically. Finally, corresponding tables, details presented, such as geometric dimensions, type PCM or HTF A novelty present work precise TESUs TTH, MTH. In literature, there lot discretion this regard. Second, methods intensification presented listed discussed. Third, unified review shows that development directions include high conductivity fins different shapes, heights, spacing, several PCMs, modified shells.
