Outbreak of Salmonella oranienburg infection in Japan.
We experienced five cases of Salmonella oranienburg infection in children living in Saitama prefecture. Thereafter the number of patients with S. oranienburg infection increased not only in Saitama (55 cases) but also in other parts of Japan in 1999 (1505 cases) in 1999. The source of S. oranienburg infection was identified as a snack made from semi-dry cuttlefish.
متن کاملHeat resistance of Salmonella in various egg products.
The heat-resistance characteristics of Salmonella typhimurium Tm-1, a reference strain in the stationary phase of growth, were determined at several temperatures in the major types of products produced by the egg industry. The time required to kill 90% of the population (D value) at a given temperature in specific egg products was as follows: at 60 C (140 F), D = 0.27 min for whole egg; D = 0.6...
متن کاملSalmonella Oranienburg involved in a variety of diseases.
Salmonellosis caused by contaminated cuttlefish chips spread throughout Japan from December 1998 to May 1999. We first identified Salmonella Oranienburg (1,2) and S. Chester (3,4) as causative agents. During the outbreak, we obtained 62 S. Oranienburg and 12 S. Chester isolates from diarrhealstools collected in Hyogo Prefecture in the central part of Japan. However, the source of isolation was ...
متن کاملSalmonella Oranienburg haemorrhagic cystitis in an immunocompetent young male
Introduction. Non-typhoidal salmonella (NTS) bacteriuria is extremely rare. Haemorrhagic cystitis is defined by urinary symptoms including haematuria, frequency, urgency and dysuria. Reports of haemorrhagic cystitis caused by NTS are exceptionally uncommon, especially in immunocompetent, young, male patients. Case presentation. A 27-year-old male with no past medical history presented to the Em...
متن کاملInternational outbreak of Salmonella Oranienburg due to German chocolate
BACKGROUND This report describes a large international chocolate-associated Salmonella outbreak originating from Germany. METHODS We conducted epidemiologic investigations including a case-control study, and food safety investigations. Salmonella (S.) Oranienburg isolates were subtyped by the use of pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). RESULTS From 1 October 2001 through 24 March 2002, ...
