Thermal Decomposition Characteristics of PEO/LiBF4/LAGP Composite Electrolytes

Lithium-based batteries with improved safety performance are highly desired. At present, most hazard is the consequence of ignition and flammability organic liquid electrolytes. Dry ceramic-polymer composite electrolytes attractive for their merits non-flammability, reduced gas release, thermal stability, in addition to mechanical strength flexibility. We recently fabricated free-standing solid made up polyethylene oxide (PEO), LiBF4 salt, Li1+xAlxGe2?x(PO4)3 (LAGP). This study focused on analyzing impacts LAGP decomposition characteristics series PEO/LiBF4/LAGP membranes. It found that appropriate amount can (1) significantly reduce solvent trapped polymer network (2) increase peak temperature corresponding degradation PEO/LiBF4 complex. In presence LAGP, although related free PEO reduced, portion PEO, as well its rate, effectively resulting slower release.
