چکیده

Abstract The onset of natural convection in a fluid-saturated anisotropic porous layer, which rotates about the vertical axis, under hypothesis local thermal non-equilibrium, is analysed. Since porosity medium assumed to be high, more suitable Darcy-Brinkman model adopted. Linear instability analysis conduction solution carried out. Nonlinear stability with respect $$L^2$$ L 2 -norm performed order prove coincidence between linear and global nonlinear thresholds. effect both rotation mechanical anisotropies on critical Rayleigh number for discussed.

Boundary Layer Associated with the Darcy-brinkman-boussinesq Model for Convection in Porous Media

We study the asymptotic behavior of the infinite Darcy-Prandtl number DarcyBrinkman-Boussinesq system for convection in porous media at small Brinkman-Darcy number. The existence of a boundary layer with thickness proportional to the square root of the BrinkmanDarcy number for the velocity field is established in both the L∞(H1) norm (2 and 3 d) and the L∞(L∞) norm (2d only). This improves an e...

Effect of Suspended Particles on Thermal Convection in Rivlin-ericksen Fluid in a Darcy-brinkman Porous Medium

In this paper, the effect of suspended particles on thermal convection in an incompressible Rivlin-Ericksen elastico-viscous fluid in a porous medium is considered. For the porous medium, the Brinkman model is employed. By applying a normal mode analysis method, the dispersion relation has been derived and solved analytically. It is observed that the medium permeability, suspended particles, gr...

Slip flow in porous micro-tubes under local thermal non-equilibrium conditions

In the present work, forced convection heat transfer of slip flow in porous micro-tubes with local thermal non-equilibrium between the gas and the solid matrix is investigated numerically. For this purpose, the flow is considered hydrodynamically developed but thermally developing. The Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer model in conjunction with separate energy equations for the gas and the solid matri...

Thermal Convection of Rotating Micropolar Fluid in Hydromagnetics Saturating A Porous Medium

This paper deals with the theoretical investigation of the thermal instability of a thin layer of electrically conducting micropolar rotating fluid, heated from below in the presence of uniform vertical magnetic field in porous medium. A dispersion relation is obtained for a flat fluid layer, contained between two free boundaries using a linear stability analysis theory, and normal mode analysi...

Thermal convection in a rotating layer of a magnetic fluid

Thermal convection in magnetic fluids can be driven by buoyancy or by magnetic forces (due to the thermomagnetic effect). Depending on the direction of the applied temperature gradient, buoyancy effects can be stabilizing (heating from above) or destabilizing (heating from below), whereas the magnetic forces always play a destabilizing role for magnetic fields perpendicular to the interface. We...
