Thermal Conductivity Estimation Based on Well Logging

The thermal conductivity of a stratum is key factor to study the deep temperature distribution and structure basin. A huge expense core sampling from boreholes, especially in offshore areas, makes it expensive directly test samples. Therefore, use well logging (the gamma-ray, neutron porosity, temperature) estimate samples obtained boreholes could be good alternative. In this study, we measured 72 an area as references. When considered shale–sand–fluid model, can calculated based on mixing models geometric mean square root mean). contents shale sand were derived natural gamma-ray logs, content fluid (porosity) was porosity logs. corrections performed for solid component separately. By comparing with data, predicted model showed consistency. This technique low-cost has great potential used application method obtain geothermal research.
