Thermal analysis of suspended single droplet evaporation measurements with a coupled lumped parameter model

Abstract The measurement data of single droplet evaporation experiments are often biased due to the extra heat input through fiber suspension and presence thermal radiation in hot environments. This encumbers model validation for mass transfer simulations liquid droplets. In this paper, a analysis layout is presented with coupled lumped parameter model, considering conduction suspension. was validated by experimental from literature good agreements were found. focused on material geometry, properties. Calculations performed broad range ambient conditions liquids different volatility characteristics. Temporal squared diameter- temperature-profiles, furthermore, stationary rate used characterize vaporization phenomena. balance dominated convective environment early stage evaporation. effect becomes important at end lifetime when size decreased. Temperature sensor may seriously bias temperature larger conductivity compared quartz fiber. Large droplets high-temperature environments show significant sensitivity properties, which should be considered measurements validation.
