چکیده

It is usually easier to find objects in a visual scene as we gain familiarity with it. Two decades of research on contextual cuing search show that repeated exposure display can facilitate the detection targets appear at predictable locations display. Typical accounts for this effect attribute an essential role learned associations between target and other stimuli These improve either by driving attention toward usual location or facilitating its recognition. Contrary view, robust also be observed when displays do not allow predicted. results suggest that, addition mechanisms already explored previous research, participants learn ignore occupied distractors, which turn facilitates even they unpredictable locations. Is there more to glycaemic control than meets the eye?

Tight glycaemic control has emerged as a major focus in critical care. However, the struggle to repeat, improve and standardize the results of the initial landmark studies is ongoing. The prospective computerized glycaemic control study by Shulman et al. highlights two emerging and often overlooked aspects of intensive insulin therapy protocols beyond simple glycaemic performance. First, the cl...

The Postsynaptic Density: There Is More than Meets the Eye

The postsynaptic density (PSD), apparent in electron micrographs as a dense lamina just beneath the postsynaptic membrane, includes a deeper layer, the "pallium", containing a scaffold of Shank and Homer proteins. Though poorly defined in traditionally prepared thin-section electron micrographs, the pallium becomes denser and more conspicuous during intense synaptic activity, due to the reversi...

Tournaments: There Is More Than Meets the Eye

Tournaments: There Is More Than Meets the Eye By the well established tournament literature, incomplete information regarding the employees’ productivity is essential for the rationalization of (efficiency-enhancing) tournaments. In this paper we propose an alternative rationalization of tournaments focusing on a fully informed principal whose objective is to maximize a weighted average of the ...

Intraoperative Visual Evoked Potentials: There is More to it than Meets the Eye

Evoked potentials have been successfully monitored intraoperatively to provide valuable real-time information to surgeons and reduce unfavorable surgical outcome. However, the inability to reliably record Visual evoked potentials (VEPs) in the operating room continues to limit its use. Several factors technical, anesthetic and others, have been looked into by various groups, but with limited su...

Visual Perception: More Than Meets the Eye

A recent study shows that objects changing in colour, luminance, size or shape appear to stop changing when they move. These and other compelling illusions provide tantalizing clues about the mechanisms and limitations of object analysis.
