For thousands of years, plant based herbal medicines have been utilized by millions people all over the world. Plant materials or products are used in different folk/traditional medical systems, such as Chinese, African and Indian like Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy. Tinospora cordifolia (TC) is a medicinal belonging to family Menispermaceae. It big deciduous, climbing shrub growing prevalently tropical part subcontinent regions India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh Srilanka, Myanmar, China. Guduchi, Giloy, Shindilkodi, Amritha common names for this plant. Extracts from parts treat many diseases. In Ayurvedic medicine, extract preparing “rasayanas”, which known cure diabetes, skin diseases, allergic conditions, jaundice, cardiovascular rheumatoid arthritis, poisoning, microbial infections. T. has bioactive phytochemicals that isolated its aerial roots. Many principles reported belong various classes alkaloids, aliphatic compounds, diterpenoid lactones, phenolics, flavonoids, glycosides, sesquiterpenoids, lignans, steroids polysaccharides. possesses properties antioxidant, antiallergic, antiinflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, antidote, antitumor, antileprotic, antispasmodic, antidiabetic properties. The present review will provide comprehensive therapeutic potential cordifolia.
