The Unusual Infrared Object HDF – N J 123656 . 3 + 621322
We describe an object in the Hubble Deep Field North with very unusual near– infrared properties. It is readily visible in Hubble Space Telescope NICMOS images at 1.6μm and from the ground at 2.2μm, but is undetected (with signal–to–noise ∼< 2) in very deep WFPC2 and NICMOS data from 0.3 to 1.1μm. The fν flux density drops by a factor ∼> 8.3 (97.7% confidence) from 1.6 to 1.1μm. The object is c...
متن کاملThe Unusual Object Ic 2144/mwc 778
IC 2144 is a small reflection nebula located in the zone of avoidance near the Galactic anticenter. It has been investigated here largely on the basis of Keck/HIRES optical spectroscopy (R ≈ 48,000) and a SpeX spectrogram of the near-IR (R = 2000) obtained at the NASA IRTF. The only star in the nebula that is obvious in the optical or near-IR is the peculiar emission-line object MWC 778 (V = 12...
متن کاملObject Detection in Infrared Images
This paper describes algorithms for detecting and classifying objects such as tanks and trucks in forward-looking infrared (FLIR) imagery. It summarizes research conducted in the course of a two-year project in the areas of image modeling, preand post-processing, segmentation, feature extraction, and classification. 1. Image models The work on image modeling conducted under this project was con...
متن کاملRobust Object Detection in Military Infrared Image
The innovation of this paper is that we put forward a new algorithm of object detection form military infrared images with texture background according to the Mean-shift smooth and segmentation method combined with eight directions difference clustering. According to the texture characteristics of background, smoothing and clustering is carried out to extract the characteristics of object. The ...
متن کاملInfrared Object Detection & Tracking in UAVs
The present thesis describes the design and implementation of a small, light weight and power efficient payload system for the use in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The primary application of the payload system is that of performing real-time object detection and tracking based on an infrared camera. The implemented object detection algorithm utilizes pre-trained classifiers to perform detect...
