The Tide Raising all Boats? Social Class Differences in Political Participation among Young People in Scotland

Social class differences in political participation are a pressing issue for democracies and they particularly severe among young people the UK. Disadvantaged least likely to be politically engaged UK it is assumed that with declining levels of inequalities increase. What happens inequality though when youth increase? Do more advantaged account most extra or do disadvantaged ‘catch up’? Based on representative survey data, this paper investigates 16- 17-year-olds context increasing Scotland. We find Scotland all social classes were equally engaged, while rest adults from those higher status politics.
