چکیده
The tensile strength of volcanic rocks is an important parameter for understanding and modelling a wide range processes, in the development strategies designed to optimise energy production geothermal reservoirs. However, despite near-ubiquity hydrothermal alteration at systems, values hydrothermally altered are sparse. Here, we present experimental study which measured variably rocks. these rocks, quantified as weight percentage secondary (alteration) minerals, varied from 6 62.8 wt%. Our data show that decreases function porosity, agreement with previous studies, alteration. We fit existing theoretical constitutive models our so can be estimated given provide transformation such they because porosity influence each other, it challenging untangle their individual contributions reduction strength. new previously published suggest exerts first-order role on Based observations, also (1) likely if associated mineral dissolution, weak minerals (such clays), increase microstructural heterogeneity (2) increases pore- crack-filling precipitation. Isotopic analysis of mineral phases to unravel the origin of altered volcanic rocks: an example from the Leucite Hills lamproites
Study of lamproites from Leucite Hills, Wyoming, indicates that the isotopic compositions of some specimens have been modified due to the alteration and/or the presence of secondary carbonate impurities within the whole rocks. Leachate test shows that while phlogopite lamproites are not affected by secondary processes, the transitional madupitic lamproites from Middle Table Mountain and on...
متن کاملOn Applicability of Some Indirect Tests for Estimation of Tensile Strength of Anisotropic Rocks
The tensile strength of rocks plays a noteworthy role in their failure mechanism, and its determination can be beneficial in optimizing the design of the rock structures. Schistose rocks due to their inherent anisotropy in different foliation directions show a diverse strength at each direction. The purpose of this work was to compare and assess the tensile strength of phyllite, which was obtai...
متن کاملOcurrence of free gold in hydrothermally-altered volcanic rocks at Castro Basin, State of Paraná, Brazil: perspectives for new potential areas
New occurrences of free gold were identified during fieldwork at outcrops located in the western part of the Castro Basin, state of Paraná. These are associated with silicified and sulfide-rich zones in hydrothermally-altered volcanic rocks. The aerogeophysical data indicate that the areas of the new targets show high K and eU relative to eTh, suggesting intense hydrothermal alteration. The str...
متن کاملMultifractal magnetic susceptibility distribution models of hydrothermally altered rocks in the Needle Creek Igneous Center of the Absaroka Mountains, Wyoming
Magnetic susceptibility was measured for 700 samples of drill core from thirteen drill holes in the porphyry copper-molybdenum deposit of the Stinkingwater mining district in the Absaroka Mountains, Wyoming. The magnetic susceptibility measurements, chemical analyses, and alteration class provided a database for study of magnetic susceptibility in these altered rocks. The distribution of the ma...
متن کاملthe effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)
cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
