The Tenerife Cosmic Microwave Background Maps: Observations and First Analysis
The results of the Tenerife Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) experiments are presented. These observations cover 5000 and 6500 square degrees on the sky at 10 and 15 GHz respectively centred around Dec.∼ +35. The experiments are sensitive to multipoles l = 10 − 30 which corresponds to the Sachs-Wolfe plateau of the CMB power spectra. The sensitivity of the results are ∼ 31 and ∼ 12 μK at 10 an...
متن کاملObservations of the Cosmic Microwave Background
The properties of the cosmic microwave background radiation provide unique constraints on cosmological models, i.e. on the content, history, and evolution of the Universe. I discuss the latest measurements of the spectral and spatial properties of the cosmic microwave background radiation. Recent measurements from NASA's Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) satellite, and from balloon-borne and gr...
متن کاملSystematic Distortion in Cosmic Microwave Background Maps
To minimize instrumentally induced systematic errors, cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy experiments measure temperature differences across the sky using paires of horn antennas, temperature map is recovered from temperature differences obtained in sky survey through a map-making procedure. To inspect and calibrate residual systematic errors in recovered temperature maps is important ...
متن کاملExtragalactic sources in Cosmic Microwave Background maps
We discuss the potential of a next generation space-borne CMB experiment for studies of extragalactic sources with reference to COrE+, a project submitted to ESA in response to the call for a Medium-size mission (M4). We consider three possible options for the telescope size: 1m, 1.5m and 2m (although the last option is probably impractical, given the M4 boundary conditions). The proposed instr...
متن کاملλo from Cosmic Microwave Background Observations
In this paper we compare data to theory. We use a compilation of the most recent cosmic microwave background (CMB) measurements to constrain Hubble’s constant h, the baryon fraction Ωb, and the cosmological constant λo. We fit h-, Ωband λo-dependent power spectra to the data. The models we consider are flat cold dark matter (CDM) dominated universes with flat (ns = 1) power spectra, thus the re...
