The Synthetic Scaffolds for Ventral Hernia Repair: Perspectives for Regenerative Surgery—Systematic Review

چکیده
Abstract Ventral hernia (VH) frequently affects patients after abdominal surgery. The use of a mesh is often recommended. Different materials are described, from synthetic non-resorbable meshes to biological meshes. New generation meshes, also named scaffolds, aim combine the advantages both materials. this review provide an overview cytological, histological, biomechanical, and clinical outcomes newest resorbable scaffolds in VH repair, based on experimental studies pre-clinical setting. A systematic was conducted according Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines Assessing Methodological Quality (AMSTAR) guidelines. Only were included. Outcome parameters building technique, vitro cytocompatibility, vivo histocompatibility, biomechanical analysis, outcomes. articles included nine. total number cases treated 257. Materials analyzed electrospun silk fibroin (SF)/poly (3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) hybrid biodegradable polyester poly-ε-caprolactone (PCL) form nanofibers, poly-4-hydroxybutyrate (P4HB), nanofibrous polylactic acid (PLA) scaffold with polypropylene (PP) material generate sandwich-like mesh, collagen sponge (CS) group, (HS) containing CS poly-L-lactide (PLLA), + bone marrow (HSBM). Resorbable new, safe, surgical treatment or prevention ventral animal models. Scaffolds should be tested contaminated field emergency use. Rigorous schematic indications data collection needed improve quality order definitively clarify pathway involved inflammatory induced response.

Biologic grafts for ventral hernia repair: a systematic review.
BACKGROUND Biologic grafts hold promise of a durable repair for ventral hernias with the potential for fewer complications than synthetic mesh. This systematic review was performed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of biologic grafts for ventral hernia repair. METHODS MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched for studies on biologic grafts for th...
متن کاملComparative efficacy of Prolene and Prolene-Vicryl composite mesh for experimental ventral hernia repair in dogs
In this study, efficacy of two hernia mesh implants viz. conventional Prolene and a novel Prolene-Vicryl composite mesh was assessed for experimental ventral hernia repair in dogs. Twelve healthy mongrel dogs were selected and randomly divided into three groups, A, Band C (n=4). In all groups, an experimental laparotomy was performed; thereafter, the posterior rectus sheath and peritoneum were ...
متن کاملProceed™ Mesh for Laparoscopic Ventral Hernia Repair
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Laparoscopic technique to repair ventral hernia offers advantages over conventional open surgery such as shorter recovery time, decreased pain, and lower recurrence rates. There are a myriad of meshes available for laparoscopic repair of ventral hernias. This study evaluated the outcomes of laparoscopic repair of ventral hernias with Proceed mesh (Ethicon, Somerville, ...
متن کاملRobotic Ventral Hernia Repair
Approximately 350,000 to 500,000 ventral hernias are repaired yearly in the United States. These hernias include congenital umbilical hernias, incisional hernias from previous sur‐ geries, or epigastric hernias. The crux of hernia repair is honoring the principle of achiev‐ ing a tension‐free repair, often achieved with utilization of a synthetic mesh. Over the last quarter of this century, lap...
