the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)
cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
The strength of statistical approaches
This paper presents an analysis of a rules-based approach and a statistical anomaly approach to Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). Two IDS systems are implemented. Analysis and comparisons of the systems are presented, as well as conclusions regarding the two approaches.
متن کاملThe Strength of Statistical Evidente
An important role of statistical analysis in science is for interpreting and communicating statistical evidente per se showing “what the data say.” Although standard methods (hypothesis testing, estimation, confidence intervals) are routinely used for this purpose, the theory behind those methods contains no defined concept of evidente, and no answer to the basic question, “When is it correct t...
متن کاملDialectical proofs accounting for strength of attacks
We consider argumentation systems taking into account several attack relations of different strength. We focus on the impact of various strength attacks on the semantics of such systems, and particularly on the decision problem of credulous acceptance: namely, focussing on one particular argument, a classical issue is to compute a proof, under the form of an admissible set containing this argum...
متن کاملNonlocality without nonlocality∗
Bell’s theorem is purported to demonstrate the impossibility of a nonlocal “hidden variable” theory underpinning quantum mechanics. It relies on the well-known assumption of ‘locality’, and also on a little-examined assumption called ‘statistical independence’ (SI). Violations of this assumption have variously been thought to suggest “backward causation”, a “conspiracy” on the part of nature, o...
