چکیده

ABSTRACT We present a detailed study on the spatially resolved polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission properties in (circum)nuclear region (NR) and extranuclear regions (ENRs) of M51a using Spitzer-IRS (infrared spectrograph) observations. Correlations among PAH intensity ratios are examined with respect to each other, local physical parameters, galactocentric distance (Rg), very small grain (VSG) emission. Additional comparison is performed mid-infrared features H ii M33 M83. The NR exhibits strongest correlation ratios, whereas ENRs showing increased scatter attributed interstellar medium Overall, radiation field hardness has higher impact than metallicity, latter regulating variance as function Rg. Specifically, different parameters suggests rate small/medium processing compared large PAHs ratio small-to-large formed increasing distance. find similarities between 7.7 $\mu$m carriers M51a’s M83’s regions, 8.6 both types ENRs, M33’s, regions. have identified positive PAH/VSG ratios. conclude that relative abundance VSG not solely driven by field.

Spatially - resolved dust properties of the GRB 980425 host galaxy

Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) have been proposed as a tool for studying star formation in the Universe, so it is crucial to investigate whether their host galaxies and immediate environments are in any way special compared with other star-forming galaxies. Here we present spatially resolved maps of dust emission of the host galaxy of the closest known GRB 980425 at z = 0.0085 using our new high-resol...

The Progenitor of SN 2005cs in the Whirlpool Galaxy

The progenitor of SN 2005cs, in the galaxy M51, is identified in pre-explosion HST ACS WFC imaging. Differential astrometry, with post-explosion ACS HRC F555W images, permitted the identification of the progenitor with an accuracy of 0.006. The progenitor was detected in the F814W pre-explosion image with I = 23.3± 0.2, but was below the detection thresholds of the F435W and F555W images, with ...

Spatially resolved PAH emission in the inner disks of Herbig Ae/Be stars

We present adaptive optics high angular resolution (∼0.1) spectroscopic observations in the 3 μm region of eight well known Herbig Ae/Be stars with circumstellar disks. We detect the aromatic emission feature at 3.3 μm for four out of six of our objects with flared disks (HD 169142, HD 97048, HD 100453, HD 100546), some weaker additional features at 3.4 and 3.46 μm and nanodiamond features at 3...

The spatially resolved refractometer.

PURPOSE To investigate factors controlling the aberrations of the eye, including accommodation, wavelength, and the apodization of the optics of the eye by cone directional selectivity. METHODS We constructed a new implementation of the Spatially Resolved Refractometer (SRR). This is an instrument, based on the Scheiner principle, that allows the rapid psychophysical measurement of the comple...

Spatially Resolved Galaxy Star Formation and its Environmental Dependence I

We use the photometric information contained in individual pixels of 44,964 (0.019 < z < 0.125 and −23.5 < Mr < −20.5) galaxies in the Fourth Data Release (DR4) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey to investigate the effects of environment on galaxy star formation (SF). We use the pixel-z technique, which combines stellar population synthesis models with photometric redshift template fitting on the ...
