Collections were conducted monthly for one year (August 2018–July 2019) by using baited pitfall, aerial, and ultraviolet light traps. Four subfamilies, nine tribes, 14 genera, 20 species (8% total richness family Salvador), 1,584 individuals captured. The abundantly collected park scarabaeines Onthophagus batesi Howden Cartwright, belorhinus (Bates), Dichotomius centralis (Harold), Coprophanaeus corythus yucatanus boucardi (Nevinson).

Associations of scarab beetles (Insecta: Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) with dung of four species of mammals in Khao Yai National Park, Thailand

To determine if dung from various species of native mammals are attractive to species of Scarabaeidae differentially in a seasonal evergreen forest in Thailand, we used pitfall traps baited with fresh dung of four species (barking deer, sambar deer, Asian elephant, pig-tailed macaque) and an unbaited control. The pitfalls were deployed in Khao Yai National Park for 24 hours in March 2010. All t...

Pentodontini is the most diverse tribe of Dynastinae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), and most of the genera are restricted to a single biogeographic region. In this work, the taxonomic composition of the Pentodontini in Colombia was determined, and genera and species were diagnosed based on external morphology and male genitalia. Records of 1,580 specimens from 31 departments and 398 localities in ...
