The Role of Ultrasonography and Elastography in Differentiating Benign From Malignant Breast Masses With Pathologic Correlation

Objective: Elastography has the potential in differentiating benign from malignant masses. The objectives of study were to evaluate morphology breast masses with routine ultrasonography and elastography, assess role elastography conventional B-mode correlate results pathologic findings. Materials Methods: This prospective observational was conducted over a period 18 months January 2018 June 2019 on 86 patients 101 clinically palpable lumps who underwent breast. Baseline data, sonographic features, modified color score, mean strain ratio recorded compared final diagnosis. Results: Sonography showed sensitivity 89.8%; specificity 96.15%; positive predictive value (PPV) negative (NPV) 95.65% 90.91%, respectively; overall diagnostic accuracy 93.07%. New dual score 97.8%, 87.0%, PPV 86.79%, NPV 87.08% 92.08%. risk missing case new 2.1%. Mean 100%; 98.11%; 97.96% 100%, 99.01%. Conclusion: demonstrates promise identifying possible malignancies, thus preventing unnecessary invasive procedures.
