The role of metallic nickel nanoparticles to remove dispersed oil from produced water in Sudan oil field plant

Abstract In this study, nickel nanoparticles (NiNPs) were synthesized and utilized for removing dispersed oil from oilfield-produced water in Sudan. The synthesis process involved using two concentrations of hydrazine as a reducing agent sodium hydroxide solvent. Physiochemical characterizations, such X-ray diffraction (XRD) transmission electron microscopy (TEM), confirmed the successful preparation NiNPs. TEM analysis revealed an average particle size ranging 70 to 90 nm, with change morphology star-shaped monodispersed spherical particles. crystal structure face-centered cubic (FCC) configuration NiNPs, validating their structural properties. Significantly, NiNPs demonstrated impressive capability remove produced water, achieving remarkable efficiency 98% eliminating water. removal followed Freundlich isotherms, evidenced by high value linear regression coefficient. kinetics conformed well pseudo-second-order model, indicating rapid reaction. summary, study successfully efficient which interacted physically These findings highlight potential effective adsorbent treating mitigating environmental contamination.
