The Role of Attitude, Travel-Related, and Socioeconomic Characteristics in Modal Shift to Shared Autonomous Vehicles with Ride Sharing

The integration of automation and shared mobility services would significantly affect transportation demand, especially mode choice. However, little is known about how attitudes, travel attributes, demographic factors the modal shift to autonomous vehicles (SAVs). A stated preference survey was designed determine preferences car transit users in relation a SAVs. binary logit models’ results revealed distinct behavior patterns systematic heterogeneity among private based on representative sample 607 individuals 2021. shifting both positively affected by attitudinal factors, including consumer innovativeness, perceived usefulness, sharing intention, ecological awareness, while negatively privacy concerns. In terms travel-related attributes SAVs, are eight times more sensitive waiting compared users, who three concerned with costs. Further, concerns, number passengers trip, ratio time SAVs were major barriers likelihood users’ behavior. light these findings, likely effects behavior, practical implications suggested for effective policy making.
