Relative Reactivities in Vinyl Copolymerization
Synopsis. From data in the literature on relatine rates of copolymerization it has been possible to evaluute two constants, Q and e , cheracteristic of a n individual monomer, which appear to account satisfactorily .for its behavior in copolymerization. The constant Q describes the “general monomer reactivity” and is apparently related to possibilities for stabilization in a radical adduct. The...

متن کاملThe relative hydrolytic reactivities of pyrophosphites and pyrophosphates.
The pH-rate profiles for the hydrolysis of pyrophosphate (PP(V)) and pyrophosphite (PP(III), pyro-di-H-phosphonate) are a complex function of pH, reflecting the different ionic species and their relative reactivities. PP(III) is more reactive than PP(V) at all pHs and only PP(III) shows a hydroxide-ion reaction at high pH, so it is 10(10)-fold more reactive than PP(V) in 0.1 M NaOH. The pK(a2) ...
متن کاملBi-acylation of cellulose: determining the relative reactivities of the acetyl and fatty-acyl moieties
The global reaction between acetic anhydride and a fatty acid yields, at equilibrium, an asymmetric acetic-aliphatic anhydride in a medium containing finally: acetic-fatty anhydride, acetic anhydride, fatty acid, acetic acid and fatty anhydride. No solvent or catalyst was used to evaluate the impact of the actual reactivity of the anhydrides. The competition between the formation of acetyl and ...
متن کاملRelative stability of cis- and trans-hydrindanones.
The relative stabilities of several cis- and trans-hydrindanones were compared using both isomerization experiments and MM2 calculations. The generally believed rule that cis-hydrindanones are more stable than trans-isomers is applicable, but is not always true. This review introduces examples, mainly from studies in our laboratory, to explain these facts.
