The relationship between functional breed selection and attachment pattern in family dogs (canis familiaris)

چکیده
Adult dogs show similar behaviour pattern towards their owners as human infants caregivers among experimental conditions, where the attachment is activated because of moderately stressful situation. Meanwhile capacity to form owner considered part domestication history dogs, in more recent times were selected for often very different work-related behavioural phenotypes. For instance, ‘cooperative’ dog breeds, like shepherd typically work visual contact with handler, while ‘independent’ such hounds or sled independently. We investigated whether cooperative and non-cooperative working would also patterns behaviour. tested independent (N = 29) 28) from various breeds Strange Situation Test. To describe subjects’ behaviour, we used a scoring system three main factors (Attachment, Acceptance, Anxiety). did not find any significant between-group difference two types (Attachment: P 0.499; Anxiety 0.200; Acceptance 0.339). Within-breed differences may be stronger than between-breed this situation, it possible that handle differently. Our results support theory fundamentally feature socialized subsequent functional breed selection rather influence specific phenotypes dogs.

Breed differences in dogs' (Canis familiaris) gaze to the human face.
Domestic dogs (Canis familiaris) have been submitted to a vast process of artificial selection and to date, there are hundreds of breeds that differ in their physical and behavioral features. In addition, dogs possess important skills to communicate with humans. Previous evidence indicates that those abilities are related to the domestication process and are modulated by instrumental learning p...
متن کاملExtensive and breed-specific linkage disequilibrium in Canis familiaris.
The 156 breeds of registered dogs in the United States offer a unique opportunity to map genes important in disease susceptibility, morphology, and behavior. Linkage disequilibrium (LD) is of current interest for its application in whole genome association mapping, since the extent of LD determines the feasibility of such studies. We have measured LD at five genomic intervals, each 5 Mb in leng...

Dogs (Canis familiaris) trained to receive a preferred food (dry beef liver) from an experimenter learned to maintain a longer gaze on the experimenter than dogs receiving a less preferred food (dog pellets). Dogs downshifted from dry liver to pellets rejected food more frequently than nonshifted controls. Gaze duration also decreased in downshifted dogs below the level of a group always reinfo...
متن کاملBreed Differences in Domestic Dogs' (Canis familiaris) Comprehension of Human Communicative Signals
Recent research suggests that some human-like social skills evolved in dogs (Canis familiaris) during domestication as an incidental by-product of selection for “tame” forms of behavior. It is still possible, however, that the social skills of certain dog breeds came under direct selection that led to further increases in social problem solving ability. To test this hypothesis, different breeds...
متن کاملDogs' (Canis familiaris) attention to human perception: Influence of breed groups and life experiences.
Attending to the perception of others may help individuals gaining information from conspecifics, or help in competitive situations. Dogs (Canis familiaris) are attentive to humans' signals and their attentional state. We investigated whether dogs of different breed groups differ in their ability to pay attention to human's perception, first according to the genetic relatedness between dog bree...
