The quest for better teaching

The quest to improve teaching on a wide scale is an enduring challenge globally. Yet demonstrable improvement in quality both elusive and slow. In this essay, I explore some of the complexities that contribute slow pace change, including: slippage between teachers as object improvement; poorly defined concept good teaching; difficulty demonstrating institutional constraints efforts; growing web marketing; conflicting conceptions professional development itself. Using my ongoing work Quality Teaching Rounds, illustrate how we have addressed these matters produce measurable sustainable effects.
