چکیده

This paper reviews some of the literature on philosophy quantum mechanics. The publications involved tend to follow similar patterns first identifying mysteries, puzzles or paradoxes world, and then discussing existing interpretations these matters, before authors produce their own interpretations, side with one views. will show that all mechanics involve elements apparent weirdness. They suggest possibly our macro exists behaves in a way quite contrary we normally imagine they should. also how many writers misunderstand idealism world as proposed by philosophers such George Berkeley, David Hume, Immanuel Kant John Stuart Mill concept observer dependent universe. concludes examining similarities between idealist view Copenhagen Interpretation suggests provides is consistent should be preferred world.

The Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics: Many Worlds or Many Words?

As cutting-edge experiments display ever more extreme forms of non-classical behavior, the prevailing view on the interpretation of quantum mechanics appears to be gradually changing. A (highly unscientific) poll taken at the 1997 UMBC quantum mechanics workshop gave the once alldominant Copenhagen interpretation less than half of the votes. The Many Worlds interpretation (MWI) scored second, c...

Probability in the Many-Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics

It is argued that, although in the Many-Worlds Interpretation of quantum mechanics there is no “probability” for an outcome of a quantum experiment in the usual sense, we can understand why we have an illusion of probability. The explanation involves: a). A “sleeping pill” gedanken experiment which makes correspondence between an illegitimate question: “What is the probability of an outcome of ...

Complementarity and the Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics

But first we shall briefly discuss the general issue of interpretations of Quantum Mechanics, and briefly describe two interpretations. The discussion assumes some knowledge of the Feynman Double Slit, such as is discussed here; it also assumes some knowledge of Schrödinger's Cat, such as is discussed here. Finally, further discussion of interpretations of Quantum Mechanics can be meaningfully ...

Probability and the Many Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Theory

Two works related to the concept of probability in the framework of the manyworlds interpretation are presented. The first deals with recent controversy in classical probability theory. Elga and D. Lewis argues that Sleeping Beauty should have different credences for result of a fair coin toss in a particular situation. It is argued that when the coin is replaced by a quantum coin, the credence...

The inevitable nonlinearity of quantum gravity falsifies the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics

There are fundamental reasons as to why there should exist a reformulation of quantum mechanics which does not refer to a classical spacetime manifold. It follows as a consequence that quantum mechanics as we know it is a limiting case of a more general nonlinear quantum theory, with the nonlinearity becoming significant at the Planck mass/energy scale. This nonlinearity is responsible for a dy...
