Abstract. Introduction: The mental health of elite athletes has been recognised as great importance. There have relatively few studies examining the prevalence problems in swimmers. Data collected using battery psychometric tests yielding information distress (The Distress Screener), anxiety depression (PHQ-9, K10), sleep disturbance (PROMIS scale), alcohol consumption (AUDIT-C), smoking behaviour, adverse nutrition career satisfaction (Career Satisfaction Scale) toughness (Mental Toughness Index). Results: 14% (n=5). Six percent (n=2) reported suicidal ideation last 2 weeks. Fourteen met criteria for distress. positive correlations between ( r=.343, p<.05), anxiety/depression r=.380, r=.531, p<.01). Career dissatisfaction identified 46% participants inversely correlated r=.485, Low use 37% 23% participants, respectively. Conclusions: Elite swimmers experience illnesses problems. is relationship low toughness. Sport governing bodies should assess their own athlete populations implement programmes support health.
