The Presence of Trihalomethanes and Haloacetic Acids in Tropical Peat Water

The presence of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in tropical peat water affects the appearance trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs) natural sources. However, information about THM HAA is still limited. This study was conducted to determine THMs HAAs taken from a canal river Riau Peatland, Indonesia, influenced by seasons tides. DOM measured carbon (DOC) UV254 absorbance. determined based on total THM4 HAA5 correlated with chloride bromide concentrations. concentrations were higher than because tidal influence. Total reached 22.70 ± 0.90 10.78 0.71 µg/L dry rainy seasons, respectively, but only 16.64 1.93 5.52 0.05 water. In contrast THM4, 104.01 4.67 106.39 9.53 9.83 0.48 56.87 6.11 predominated season while season.
