The Optical to Infrared Extinction Law of Magellanic Clouds Based on Red Supergiants and Classical Cepheids

چکیده
Precise interstellar dust extinction laws are important to infer the intrinsic properties of reddened objects and correctly interpret observations. In this work, we attempt measure optical--infrared Large Small Magellanic Clouds (LMC SMC) by using red supergiant (RSG) stars classical Cepheids as tracers. The spectroscopic RSG samples constructed based on APOGEE spectral parameters, Gaia astrometric data, multi-band photometry. We establish effective temperature--intrinsic color relations for determine excess ratio (CER) E(lambda-GRP)/E(GBP-GRP) LMC SMC. use derive base relative A_GRP/E(GBP-GRP). results 1.589+-0.014 1.412+-0.041 By combining CERs with A_GRP /E(GBP-GRP), coefficients A_lambda/A_GRP determined 16 bands. adjust parameters Rv-dependent obtain average law SMC Rv=3.40+-0.07 Rv=2.53+-0.10, which consistent Gordon et al. Infrared Photometry of Red Supergiants in Young Clusters in the Magellanic Clouds
We present broad-band infrared photometry for 52 late-type supergiants in the young Magellanic Clouds clusters NGC 330, NGC 1818, NGC 2004 and NGC 2100. Standard models are seen to differ in the temperature they predict for the red supergiant population on the order of 300K. It appears that these differences most probably due to the calibration of the mixing-length parameter, αP , in the outerm...

We present a detailed comparison between predicted and empirical PLI,K relations and Wesenheit function for Galactic and Magellanic Clouds (MCs) First Overtone (FO) Cepheids. We find that zero-points predicted by Galactic Cepheid models based on a noncanonical (mild overshooting) Mass-Luminosity (ML) relation are in very good agreement with empirical zero-points based on HIPPARCOS parallaxes, w...
متن کاملV(RI)C Photometry of Cepheids in the Magellanic Clouds
We present V(RI)C data for thirteen Cepheids in the Large Magellanic Cloud and eight in the Small Magellanic Cloud. The total number of new measures is fifty-five in each wavelength band. The median uncertainty in the photometry is ±0.03 mag. These results supplement a larger photometric program on Magellanic Cloud Cepheids previously published. EROS (Aubourg et al., 1993) is a French collaboration to search for baryonic dark matter in the Galactic Halo by microlensing on stars of the Magellanic Clouds. Between 1991 and 1994 about 15000 CCD images were taken with two broad bandpass filters BE and RE of an area of 1 x 0.4 degrees centered on the bar of the LMC. Another field of 1 x 0.4 degrees had been chosen in the SMC between 1993-199...
متن کاملOn determining the mass - loss rates of red giants and red supergiants based on infrared data
I review existing methods for determining mass-loss rates of red giants and red supergiants based on infrared data. The simplest method is based on models for the absorption and emission by dust which forms in the dense outflows from these cool stars. I discuss the parameters and assumptions upon which the method relies, review relationships between the mass-loss rate and infrared colours or fa...
