Abstract This article aims to clarify the attitude of Italian Northern League (Lega Nord) toward Catholic Church and faith, since its creation in 1991. The examines evolution party from merger northern regionalist parties under leadership Umberto Bossi (1991–2012) until current form reengineering by new leader, Matteo Salvini, as a national(ist) (Lega) aiming win votes mandates all over Italy become dominant right. Be it or Lega Nord/Lega has always opposed both humanist teaching mainstream social organizations, while pretending defend “Catholic identity” “North,” before turning entire country. Under Salvini’s leadership, joined forces with some rightist groups prone complain about Pope Francis’s deemed treason identity, so reinforced conservative orientation.
