The Musical Turn in Biosemiotics

چکیده
Abstract Human music and language are two systems of communication expression that, while historically considered to overlap, have become increasingly divergent in their approach study. Music almost certainly co-evolved emerged from the same semiotic field, this relationship as well co-origin actively researched debated. For sake evaluating content zoomusicology, we investigate a ‘bottom-up’ biosemiotic functionalist account considering iconic, indexical, symbolic forms meaning not hierarchy but according effects on agents. Such an avoids overintellectualizing representational aspects music, instead inverts, it were, traditional categories produce illocutionary effects. Understanding aesthetics action priori separate rather fundamentally co-arising elements events. The focus musicality again returns interpretation how semiosis precipitates expression.

The notions of ‘modeling’ and ‘interrelation’ play a pivotal role in Sebeok’s biosemiotics. In dialogue with Thomas A. Sebeok’s doctrine of signs, we propose to inquire into the action of modeling and interrelation in biosemiosis over the planet Earth, developing the concept of interrelation in terms of ‘dialogism’. Indeed, in the light of Sebeok’s biosemiotics we believe that the concept of di...

This contribution attempts to synthesize and expand ideas previously presented at these meetings by placing them into a wider framework at the intersection of biosemiotics and current philosophy of biology. In previous investigations I aimed mainly at exploring the connections between two special kinds of relational structures: the networks of self-referential circular loops that appear pervasi...

We propose to explore some problems and deficiencies in current approaches to biosemiotics and offer some tentative solutions or improvements. For these purposes we approach our field not so much as a separate discipline but rather as a program for a radical re-conceptualization and generalization of theoretical biology in light of the essential role played by semiotic and instrumental notions ...
