The moderating role of perceived social support on early maladaptive schemas and well-being for primary caregivers of dementia patients

Objective: This study aims to investigate the moderating role of perceived social support on early maladaptive schemas and well-being for primary caregivers dementia patients. Method: Ninety-nine adult children as patients participated in study. They completed measures Young Schema Questionnaires-Short Form 3 (YSQ-SF3), Caregiver Well-Being Scale, Multidimensional Scale Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). Results: According results regression analyses, total from significant others moderated association caregiver well-being-basic needs, unlike family friends. For well-being-activities living association, however, moderator roles different sources were not confirmed. Conclusion: Since caregiving has negative effects caregivers, it is important identify protective factors. The findings emphasize buffering others, especially terms meeting basic process.
