The Materialisation of “torrential languages” within the Avant-Garde: Mina Loy, James Joyce, and Aesthetic Modernism

Abstract Modernist literature was obsessed with a metaphysical problem regarding the word. A series of formal and material experiments started to address word’s self-referentiality aesthetic autonomy, against backdrop new sociocultural milieu in early twentieth century. To discover how this materialisation language explored interplay literary artistic modernisms, paper will critically scrutinise Mina Loy’s James Joyce’s radical reforms writing try answer following questions: did multifarious artisthood poem-writing exchange, interact with, reinforce each other? As both were closely associated avant-garde art movements between Europe America, Joyce influence refashioning “torrential languages” ( LoLB 88) as creative model linguistic experimentation? How their visual aesthetics experimental poetics help declare independence shape modernism historical epoch?
