Critical limb ischemia (CLI) is a common health problem among adults. CLI progressive type of peripheral artery disease associated with non-healing ulceration and ischemic pain at rest. Patients may suffer from gangrene, consequence arterial occlusive disease. have high-risk developing chronic issues such as hyperlipidemia, renal failure, hypertension, diabetes mellitus. The well-being patients low heterogeneously complex. cope complex that often require appropriate treatment management. newly developed Limflow system the promising future for vascular interventions in patients.

Design and Rationale of the Best Endovascular Versus Best Surgical Therapy for Patients With Critical Limb Ischemia (BEST‐CLI) Trial

BACKGROUND Critical limb ischemia (CLI) is increasing in prevalence, and remains a significant source of mortality and limb loss. The decision to recommend surgical or endovascular revascularization for patients who are candidates for both varies significantly among providers and is driven more by individual preference than scientific evidence. METHODS AND RESULTS The Best Endovascular Versus...

Improved quality of life in patients with no-option critical limb ischemia undergoing gene therapy with DVC1-0101

Critical limb ischemia (CLI) has a poor prognosis and adversely affects patients' quality of life (QOL). Therapeutic angiogenesis may improve mobility, mortality, and QOL in CLI patients. However, the effectiveness of gene therapy on such patients' QOL is unknown. DVC1-0101, a non-transmissible recombinant Sendai virus vector expressing human fibroblast growth factor-2 gene, demonstrated safety...

Improving the level of amputation of the lower extremity after therapeutic endovascular intervention for patients with critical limb ischemia

Methods: We conducted a comparative study of two groups of patients suffering from arterial insufficiency of the lower extremities, and the decision taken to amputate above the knee for both of them. A group of patients selected for a therapeutic peripheral intervention, and the effect of this intervention in improving the level of amputation studied and calculated statistically. The study cond...

[Critical limb ischemia].

Chronic critical limb ischemia is defined as ischemia which generally endangers the distal part of a limb. If the ischemia is unrelenting, there is a high risk that amputation will be required. These critical limbs were amputated as an initial treatment long ago. Now it becomes clear that disabling patients have very poor quality of life after major amputation, and ischemic leg produces noxious...

Chronic critical limb ischemia.

BACKGROUND Some 40 000 lower limb amputations are performed in Germany each year, 70% of them in diabetics. About 80% of all major amputations may be preventable with the use of new interventional and vascular surgical procedures, particularly on the arteries of the leg and foot. We present the current state of the art in revascularization techniques and evaluate their usefulness for preservati...
