چکیده

The injection of seawater into a hydrocarbon reservoir (seawater flooding) as secondary or tertiary oil recovery method is associated with two possibly significant challenges. First, the formation and deposition various types scale may happen due to incompatibility between brine. Especially, addition sulfate ions trigger scales (e.g., barium sulfate, strontium calcium sulfate). Second, microbial souring activation Sulfate Reducing Bacteria (SRBs), which reduce hydrogen sulfide. This mainly result drop in temperature reservoir, from presence Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) coming hydrocarbon. Since both these processes include consumption ions, competition expected them. there concern about whether an efficient mitigation strategy for nitrate treatment) will less turn more scales. study tests this theory investigates effect intensity on severity barite inside reservoir. In study, non-isothermal multi-component bio-chemical model simultaneously simulate developed. Several simulation cases one dimensions are investigated different conditions order three influential parameters, namely ion concentration sweater, DOC content hydrocarbon, flow rate formation, souring, treatment, interplay among results show that small (a maximum 4 percent reduction total generated sulfide) whereas treatment significantly influence formation. Depending case, can cause complete removal especially around production well (positive effect) 8 times increase amount (negative effect). Moreover, all cases, although sulfide (up full souring), generation zone moves closer well. Therefore, insufficient earlier twice early). other trends observed set also presented paper.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Microbial Hydrocarbon Degradation: Efforts to Understand Biodegradation in Petroleum Reservoirs

The understanding of the phylogenetic diversity, metabolic capabilities, ecological roles, and community dynamics taking place in oil reservoir microbial communities is far from complete. The interest in studying microbial diversity and metabolism in petroleum reservoirs lies mainly but not only on providing a better comprehension of biodegradation of crude oils, since it represents a worldwide...

Effects of nitrate injection on microbial enhanced oil recovery and oilfield reservoir souring.

Column experiments were utilized to investigate the effects of nitrate injection on sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) inhibition and microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR). An indigenous microbial consortium collected from the produced water of a Brazilian offshore field was used as inoculum. The presence of 150 mg/L volatile fatty acids (VFA´s) in the injection water contributed to a high biolog...

Characterization of thermophilic consortia from two souring oil reservoirs.

The microbial consortia from produced water at two different oil fields in Alaska (Kuparuk) and the North Sea (Ninian) were investigated for sulfate-reducing and methanogenic activity over a range of temperatures and for a variety of substrates. The consortia were sampled on site, and samples were either incubated on site at 60(deg)C with various substrates or frozen for later incubation and an...
