The Intermolecular NOE Depends on Isotope Selection: Short Range vs Long Range Behavior
نویسندگان
چکیده
The nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE) is a powerful tool in molecular structure elucidation, combining the subtle chemical shift of NMR and three-dimensional information independent connectivity. Its usage for intermolecular studies, however, fundamentally limited by an unspecific long-ranged interaction behavior. This joint experimental computational work shows that proper selection interacting isotopes can overcome these limitations: Isotopes with strongly differing gyromagnetic ratios give rise to short-ranged NOEs. In this light, existing NOE experiments need be re-evaluated future ones designed accordingly. Thus, new chapter on elucidation opened.

متن کاملShort Range and Long Range Dependence
In this section a discussion of the evolution of a notion of strong mixing as a measure of short range dependence and with additional restrictions a sufficient condition for a central limit theorem, is given. In the next section I will give a characterization of strong mixing for stationary Gaussian sequences. In Sect. 3 I will give a discussion of processes subordinated to Gaussian processes a...
متن کاملPhotoemission signatures of valence-bond stripes in cuprates: Long-range vs. short-range order
Recent experiments indicate that the tendency toward the formation of unidirectional charge density waves (“stripes”) is common to various underdoped cuprates. We discuss momentum-resolved spectral properties of valence-bond stripes, comparing the situations of ideal and short-range stripe order, the latter being relevant for weak and/or disorder-pinned stripes. We find clear signatures of orde...
متن کاملShort range stiffness elastic limit depends on joint velocity.
Muscles behave as elastic springs during the initial strain phase, indicated as short range stiffness (SRS). Beyond a certain amount of strain the muscle demonstrates a more viscous behavior. The strain at which the muscle transits from elastic- to viscous-like behavior is called the elastic limit and is believed to be the result of breakage of cross-bridges between the contractile filaments. T...
متن کاملBoundary between long-range and short-range critical behavior in systems with algebraic interactions.
We investigate phase transitions of two-dimensional Ising models with power-law interactions, using an efficient Monte Carlo algorithm. For slow decay, the transition is of the mean-field type; for fast decay, it belongs to the short-range Ising universality class. We focus on the intermediate range, where the critical exponents depend continuously on the power law. We find that the boundary wi...
