The interaction of hydrogen with retained austenite in automotive steel grades

چکیده

This work investigates the effect of a constant load on hydrogen diffusion through transformation induced plasticity (TRIP)-assisted and quenching partitioning (Q&P) steel containing metastable retained austenite by combining electrochemical permeation thermal desorption spectroscopy. Furthermore, comparison is made with ferrite/martensite dual phase (DP) steel, which serves as reference material not any austenite. Material samples are placed at different external loading conditions, ranging from 50% to 125% yield stress. The transients indicate response between TRIP Q&P steel. In latter, delayed for all stressed even stresses in elastic regime, whereas steels follows same behaviour DP increased diffusivity regime decreased plastic regime. From subsequent spectroscopy performed specimens after test, spectra show high temperature peak present spectrum unloaded sample. Thus indicating that capable trapping loaded condition. Due difference matrix surrounding phase, it reasoned discrepancy due internal higher hardness compared

Identification of Retained Austenite, Ferrite, Bainite and Martensite in the Microstructure of TRIP Steel

Transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) steels have a vast application in automotive industry because of theirhigh strength, high ductility and hence excellent energy absorption capacity. These characteristics of TRIPsteels are due to the existence of retained austenite in their microstructures in the ambient temperature, whichtransforms to the martensite phase during deforma...

Mechanical Stabilisation of Retained Austenite in δ–TRIP Steel

Recent research suggests that extraordinary combinations of strength and ductility can be achieved in the so–called δ–TRIP steels, which contain ferrite, bainite and austenite. A part of the reason for the ductility of almost 40% elongation at a strength of some 900MPa, is believed to be the optimal stability of the austenite to plastic deformation. We demonstrate here that mechanical stabilisa...

Site-specific atomic-scale characterisation of retained austenite in a strip cast TRIP steel

Knowledge of carbon content in retained austenite (RA) with different neighbouring phases is essential to understand the chemical stability of RA, which is useful for microstructure tuning of transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steels. The present study investigates different morphologies and chemical compositions of RA by correlating electron backscattering diffraction, transmission elect...

Thermal Stability of Retained Austenite in Bainitic Steel: an in situ study

The tempering of two–phase mixtures of bainitic ferrite and carbon–enriched retained austenite has been investigated in an effort to separate the reactions that occur at elevated temperatures from any transformation during cooling to ambient conditions. It is demonstrated using synchrotron X–radiation measurements, that the residue of austenite left at the tempering temperature partly decompose...
